متن کاملSymmetric curvature tensor
Recently, we have used the symmetric bracket of vector fields, and developed the notion of the symmetric derivation. Using this machinery, we have defined the concept of symmetric curvature. This concept is natural and is related to the notions divergence and Laplacian of vector fields. This concept is also related to the derivations on the algebra of symmetric forms which has been discu...
متن کاملSingularities in Droplet Pinching with Vanishing Viscosity
A slender-jet model for the pinching of a liquid column is considered in the limit of vanishing viscosity. We find the model to develop a singularity in the gradients of the local radius and the velocity at a finite thread radius, so it does not describe breakup. However, the observed steepening of the profile corresponds to experiments and simulations with fluids at low viscosity. The singular...
متن کاملNonstandard Proofs of Herglotz, Bochner and Bochner-Minlos Theorems
We describe a unified approach to Herglotz, Bochner and BochnerMinlos theorems using a combination of Daniell integral and nonstandard analysis. The proofs suggest a natural extension of the last two theorems to the case when the characteristic function is not continuous. This extension is proven and is demonstrated to be the best one possible. The goal of this paper is to show how the classic ...
متن کاملVanishing theorems for associative submanifolds
Let M7 a manifold with holonomy in G2, and Y 3 an associative submanifold with boundary in a coassociative submanifold. In [5], the authors proved that MX,Y , the moduli space of its associative deformations with boundary in the fixed X, has finite virtual dimension. Using Bochner’s technique, we give a vanishing theorem that forces MX,Y to be locally smooth. MSC 2000: 53C38 (35J55, 53C21, 58J32).
